Tom Harves grew up in an unsaved home. After graduating from High School, he joined the USAF and planned to be a career military man. But God changed his plans! On October 18, 1984, while stationed at NORAD in Colorado Springs, Colorado, Tom trusted Christ as his personal Lord and Savior. Tom devoured the Word of God and was discipled by many men at Mesa Hills Bible Church (Colo. Spgs.) During this time, the Lord burdened Tom's heart for ministry and he started working with the MHBC Youth Group.
In 1986, Tom met his wife-to-be, Kim Sheppard, at church. Kim had just graduated from GRSBM (Grand Rapids, MI). On July 3, 1989, they were married at Twin Peaks Bible Camp (Collbran, CO). They now have 3 active children: daughter, Kayla; son, Konnor; and daughter, Karissa.
Tom graduated from Calvary Bible College & Theological Seminary (Kansas City, MO) in 1994 with a B.S. in Pastoral Studies. He began his pastoral ministry as a Youth Pastor at Tanglewood Bible Fellowship in Duncan, Oklahoma. For the last 12 years, Tom has been serving as a Missionary Pastor with the Rocky Mtn. Bible Church Mission at South Routt Bible Church, Oak Creek, Colorado (near Steamboat Springs).
As a missionary pastor Tom also works part-time construction jobs just to make ends meet. He knows how hard it is to try to balance ministry, work, and family demands. He knows what it is like to rebuild a struggling church and see it revived by being consistent in preaching God's Word , praying and loving the people.
